CLAY COUNTY, Fla. (Dec. 31, 2024) Airstream Ventures has partnered with the Clay County Tourism Department and the Clay County to announce the Inaugural Clash at the Creek Showdown on March 29, 2025.
The Clash at the Creek Showdown will feature over 20 girls flag football teams from all over the state of Florida playing multiple games at the new Clay County Regional Sports Complex. Games will begin at 8 a.m. and run throughout the day concluding with games at night under the lights. Teams can be added through February 1st and have to be sanctioned by a high school and the FHSAA. "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase and highlight the booming sport of
women's flag football," said John Sgromolo, Clay County Commissioner and Tourist Development Council Member. "The sport has even been approved for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games. Clay County is dedicated to supporting and promoting the sport of Girls Flag Football as it has become a staple of interscholastic athletics and is now developing into collegiate opportunities for student athletes in our community."
The Clash at the Creek Showdown will benefit High School 9:12, a 501(c)(3), designed to help the youth throughout Jacksonville and the First Coast by creating change in our community. The focus is taking a holistic approach to guide high school students and athletes to reach their full potential. This program utilizes academics, sports, and life skills to increase opportunities of success for students after graduation. High School 9:12 also produces the Clay County CrossCountry Invitational, Fortegra Invitational Basketball Tournament along with the Rivalry on the River presented by Atlantic Self Storage.

Girls High School Flag Football has developed in popularity and coverage and we are excited to create the long-term event that will only grow as the years continue.”
There is an estimated attendance of 1,000 people and there will be food trucks and vendors on-site as well. The event will also continue to help showcase the newly built Regional Sports Complex in Clay County. It was completed in 2024 and is continuing to build its event line-up.
